The church is located just across from the northeastern coast of Prespa Lake, in the foothills of the Pelister Mountains. The year of its construction remains unknown, but the frescoes inside it were painted in 1191.

The church’s facade is covered with a colored layer decorated with ceramic relief. Although St. George has suffered from fire in previous centuries, it was also restored twice, in the 17th and 19th centuries.
