Churches and Monasteries

This monastery, located on Skopska Crna Gora (Skopje’s Black Mountain) dates from the early 14th century, and contains many important and unique fresco paintings. The monastery complex includes the church, a 19th century guest-house with belfry, full monastic quarters and the Bishop’s residence. It was endowed by Serbian King Milutin in 1307, and contains works by the renowned Balkan painters Mihajlo and Eftihije.
