Mountains & National Parks / Korab

Highest point: peak Golem Korab, 2764mIn 1996, a precise satellite measuring was executed, and a new height of 2864m was realised. This number has not been officially confirmed yet, so the previous height still remains. Location: The part of Korab which lies on Macedonian territory, on its northern and western sides has the borders of Serbia and Montenegro (Kosovo) and Albania. Its eastern side is drawn by the river Radika, and in south it extends to the Zhirovnichka River through all its flow from the stream to its joining to the river Radika.

Approach:You can reach the mountain via the western Gostivar-Debar highway. At about 8km from Mavrovi Anovi, where the Mavrovska River flows into Radika, turn right and by a gravel road you will pass the village of Nichipur and the Strezimir region and reach the police station. Then continue for 4km following the course of Radika, turn left and go for another 1.5km to the Strezimir watchtower. Since Korab is located in a border area, an approval for hiking in this area is necessary and can be obtained in the departments of the Ministry of internal affairs

All fruits and vegetables are grown organically in Macedonia; tomatoes and peppers are legendary.
The ancient city of Stobi, lying in a fertile valley just a few minutes off the central north-south highway that connects Macedonia with Greece, was a vital trade route in its day. This crossroad of ancient civilizations has left a rich legacy of antique ...
